PREDICTION: Bucks 118, Lakers 111

Oddsmakers currently have the LA LAKERS listed as 7.5 point favorites versus the MILWAUKEE, while the game’s total is sitting at 214.

LOS ANGELES — The Milwaukee Bucks will try to prolong the troubles of the Los Angeles Lakers when the two teams square off Friday night at Staples Center.

The Bucks (33-34) have won seven of their last eight contests, including a 97-96 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday at Staples. Clippers forward Blake Griffin missed a shot inside the lane before the final horn that allowed Milwaukee to prevail.

Six Bucks scored in double figures with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton leading the way with 16 points apiece. Matthew Dellavedova, who finished with 12 points and was 3-for-3 from 3-point range, hit a late trey that turned out to be the difference.

“When we’re unselfish and we make the extra pass, good things happen,” Milwaukee coach Jason Kidd said. “(Dellavedova) made some big shots for us (Wednesday). I thought we had some great looks in the corner late that we missed, that if we continue to get these type of shots in close games they’ll go in for us.”

The Bucks, who will play the third game of their six-game road swing, have lost to the Lakers in their last two visits. The Lakers are 12-4 all-time at Staples against the Bucks.

Despite a career-high 41 points by Antetokounmpo, the Lakers defeated the Bucks 122-114 in their last meeting on Feb. 10 at Milwaukee. Los Angeles scored season-highs in points in the first quarter (41) and first half (76) before holding off a late charge by the Bucks.

Nick Young led the Lakers with 26 points, eight of them coming via two four-point plays, in the win.

Since then, victories have been difficult to come by for the Lakers (20-48), who have dropped three in a row and 11 of their past 13 games.

On Wednesday at Houston, the Rockets crushed the Lakers 139-100 behind 30 points from former Laker Lou Williams. Julius Randle led Los Angeles by scoring a career-high 32 points on 13-of-17 shooting. Randle also had eight rebounds.

It was the second time this season the Lakers have been beaten by 39 points by the Rockets. Houston recorded a 134-95 rout on Dec. 7 against the visiting Lakers.

Los Angeles coach Luke Walton couldn’t hide his exasperations after the latest blowout, questioning his team’s effort and its commitment to improve.

“We need to figure out as a group, not individually, but as a group how to handle adversity and how to react when things get tough,” Walton said. “We do a lot of blaming other people and we need to look at ourselves and control what we can control. Until we do, unfortunately, there are going to be a lot of frustrating nights like (Wednesday).”

Walton has tinkered with his lineup for the past few games as the club evaluates its younger players. He benched starting point guard D’Angelo Russell the past two games for his inconsistent play and replaced him with Jordan Clarkson. Clarkson had 18 points against Houston.

Young didn’t play in the previous two games before the setback to the Rockets, giving way to David Nwada. However, Young started against the Rockets and played 23 scoreless minutes on 0-for-9 shooting.

Bucks hold off Lakers 107-103 after 3 ejections for shoving

LOS ANGELES (AP) Khris Middleton scored 14 of his season-high 30 points in the fourth quarter, Greg Monroe added 12 points before his ejection and the Milwaukee Bucks kept up their furious playoff push with their eighth victory in nine games, 107-103 over the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night.

Monroe and Lakers guards D’Angelo Russell and Nick Young were ejected with 36 seconds left in the third quarter after a fracas started by Malcolm Brogdon’s hard foul on Young, who shoved back. Monroe then shoved Young, and Russell shoved Monroe while every player on the court got involved.

Jordan Clarkson scored 21 points for the Lakers, who trimmed Milwaukee’s lead from 18 points to 103-100 with 7.9 seconds left.

After Brogdon hit two free throws, Clarkson made his fourth 3-pointer, but Middleton hit two free throws with 1.6 seconds left.

Milwaukee’s Greek star Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 26 points before fouling out for the Bucks (34-34), who are in seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings with a good shot at their second winning season in 14 years.

Rookie Ivica Zubac had 18 points and eight rebounds for the Lakers (20-49), who have lost 12 of 13. Only Brooklyn has a poorer record than the Lakers, whose fall has increased their chances of keeping their first-round pick this summer.

Young scored 16 points and Russell had 14 before their ejections, but the Bucks appeared to be cruising to an easy win before the prolonged scuffle. They had opened up an 18-point lead while Antetokounmpo scored 12 points in the first 6:15 of the third.

But the brouhaha inspired the Lakers, who trimmed Milwaukee’s lead to single digits and kept up the pressure down the stretch. Los Angeles cut Milwaukee’s edge to 99-93 with 4:55 left but then failed to score for the next 3 1/2 minutes.

Antetokounmpo fouled out with 7.9 seconds left, but Julius Randle made only one ensuing free throw.

The Bucks have made their postseason surge even without second-leading scorer Jabari Parker, who is out for the year after tearing a knee ligament last month.

Milwaukee leads eighth-place Miami (34-35) by a half-game, and the Bucks opened up a 1 1/2-game lead over the ninth-place Detroit Pistons (33-36), who lost to Toronto.

The Lakers were officially eliminated from playoff contention.

While Lakers coach Luke Walton praised his players’ response to the skirmish and saw problems with nearly every decision made by the officials in its aftermath, Milwaukee coach Jason Kidd said he was pleased by his team’s resilience.

”After things like that, there’s always a momentum swing, and it swung their way,” Kidd said. ”The guys stayed the course. They kept playing, and we found a way to keep the lead and finish the game.”

Bucks’ Monroe, Lakers’ Young, Russell ejected after fracas

LOS ANGELES (AP) Los Angeles Lakers guards Nick Young and D’Angelo Russell and Milwaukee Bucks center Greg Monroe have been ejected after a shoving fracas in the third quarter.

The brouhaha started when Milwaukee’s Malcolm Brogdon delivered a hard foul to Young with 36 seconds left in the quarter Thursday night.

Young shoved Brogdon, and Monroe quickly shoved Young. Russell and Lakers rookie Brandon Ingram then both engaged with Monroe while every player on the court joined the fray.

The officials called double technical fouls on Russell and Monroe, ejecting them both. Young had a technical foul earlier in the game, and he was ejected for his second T.

Young had 16 points and Russell had 14. Monroe had 12 points for the Bucks, who took an 84-77 lead into the fourth.

PREDICTION: Warriors 115, Bucks 110

Oddsmakers currently have the GOLDEN STATE listed as -11.5 point favorites versus the MILWAUKEE, while the game’s total is sitting at 216.

OAKLAND, Calif. — Confident it has regained its championship-level form following a big win over the Orlando Magic, the Golden State Warriors figure to get more of a challenge when the Milwaukee Bucks visit on Saturday night.

The Warriors have won twice to open a three-game homestand that followed a brutal eight-game stretch in which the club went just 3-5. But the two home wins this week were nothing alike.

Playing without injured star Kevin Durant, the Warriors struggled to rally past the Philadelphia 76ers 106-104 on Tuesday night, before exploding early and coasting to a 122-92 shellacking of the Magic on Thursday.

“To have a game like that always helps,” Warriors forward Draymond Green declared of the Orlando demolition. “We looked like a completely different team.”

Suffice to say, Saturday’s opponent is a completely different team than Thursday’s. Despite a key loss of their own — standout forward Jabari Parker is out for the season with a knee injury — the Bucks (34-34) have won eight of their last nine games to move into the seventh spot in a tightly bunched Eastern Conference playoff race.

The Bucks will be playing the second half of a back-to-back when they face the Warriors. Milwaukee assured itself of at least a split by outlasting the Los Angeles Lakers 107-103 on Friday night behind Khris Middleton’s 30 points.

The Bucks’ leading scorer last season, Middleton missed the club’s first 50 games this year while recovering from a torn hamstring. His return coincided almost exactly with Parker’s injury, and he’s averaged 18.1 much needed points during Milwaukee’s nine-game hot streak.

He saved 14 of his 30 points Friday night for when the Bucks needed them most — following a third-quarter scuffle in which three players were ejected.

“After things like that, there’s always a momentum swing, and it swung their way,” Bucks coach Jason Kidd said of a Lakers rally early in the final period. “The guys stayed the course. They kept playing, and we found a way to keep the lead and finish the game.”

Middleton wasn’t available when the Bucks took the Warriors to the wire before losing 124-121 at home in November. Durant had 33 points in the win.

Warriors guard Stephen Curry chipped in with 20 points, but missed 10 of his 11 3-point attempts. As it turns out, it was a sign of things to come.

Curry, who hit 45.4 percent of his threes during a run to a unanimous Most Valuable Player honor last season, has slumped to 39.2 percent this season.

He’s been particularly off his mark in Golden State’s last 10 games, most of which have been played without Durant. Curry has gone just 25-for-96 (26.0 percent) from beyond the arc in his slump.

A Bucks-Warriors matchup pits two of the league’s most versatile players — Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo and Green.

Antetokounmpo was at his usual all-around brilliance in Friday’s win over the Lakers, going for 26 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two blocks.

Green had nine points, 11 rebounds and six assists in just 25 minutes in his most recent outing, Thursday’s win over Orlando.

The Warriors might have won the war over the Bucks in their earlier meeting, but Antetokounmpo won his personal battle with Green, outscoring him 30-10, outrebounding him 4-2 and out-assisting him 6-5.

Oddsmakers currently have the MILWAUKEE listed as -6.5 point favorites versus the CHICAGO, while the game’s total is sitting at 202.

MILWAUKEE — The surging Milwaukee Bucks will try to continue their charge up the Eastern Conference ladder on Sunday when they host the Central Division rival Chicago Bulls at the Bradley Center.

Milwaukee moved into a tie for fifth place in the East on Friday with a 100-97 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. That came on the heels of a 4-2 Western trip for the Bucks, who have won 11 of their last 13 to jump into the thick of the playoff race.

“Everybody is fighting for pole position,” Milwaukee coach Jason Kidd said. “We’re trying to climb up the ladder.”

To keep on track, the Bucks will need a bounce-back game from Khris Middleton, who made only 1 of 13 shots from the field, missed all four of his 3-point attempts and finished with six points against Atlanta.

With Middleton slumping, Giannis Antetokounmpo put up a monster game, scoring 34 points with 13 rebounds, five assists, three blocked shots and two steals. He also got his teammates involved, especially Greg Monroe and Malcolm Brogdon.

When Antetokounmpo produces and facilitates, Milwaukee’s offense is hard to stop.

“Giannis is selfless and that’s why this team has been able to come together and make the run we’re making,” Brogdon said. “We follow his lead every night and it just speaks to his character and his leadership.”

The Bucks are an NBA-best 11-3 this month and two games over .500 for the first time since Jan. 13, when they were 20-18.

At the very least, Milwaukee would like to maintain or extend its lead over seventh-place Indiana and eighth-place Miami, which trail the Bucks by one and two games, respectively, while Chicago sits on the outside looking in, tied for ninth place with Detroit.

The Bulls know their chances are running out.

“We know we belong there,” Chicago center Robin Lopez told the Chicago Tribune. “We’ve beaten some of the best teams in the league.”

But not lately, which is a pressing concern.

The Bulls have lost nine of their last 12 games. After picking up a big win over the Pistons on Wednesday that kept their slim playoff hopes alive, the Bulls were flat-out embarrassed Friday night in a 117-107 loss to Philadelphia at the United Center.

The 76ers had only 10 available players, but shot 55 percent from the floor

“For us to come out and play with that type of effort at this time of year, it’s maddening,” coach Fred Hoiberg said. “Especially after the (win Wednesday over the Pistons), you would have hoped that it would have carried over. We still have an opportunity, but if we come out with this type of effort, we don’t have a chance.”

The loss spoiled a chance to gain ground on the Pacers and Pistons, who both lost Friday, but the Bulls still come to Milwaukee only 1 1/2 games out of a playoff berth.

“We do enough talking around here as it is,” Jimmy Butler said. “I think everybody knows where we stand right now — on the outside looking in. Everybody knows where we want to be. Ain’t too much to say.

“Nine more, right? Nine? We gotta have ’em. As we said before the game, as we’ll say tomorrow, and the day after that, probably the day after that. We gotta have ’em.”

The Bucks have won the first three meetings with Chicago and are going for their first season sweep of the Bulls since the 2000-01 season.

PREDICTION: Thunder 109, Bucks 105

Oddsmakers currently have the OKLAHOMA CITY listed as -4.5 point favorites versus the MILWAUKEE, while the game’s total is sitting at 211.

Russell Westbrook continues to make individual history but is more interested in guiding his team to wins and locking up the best possible seed in the Western Conference playoffs. Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder will try to avoid a third straight setback when they host the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday.

Westbrook recorded his 40th triple-double of the season on Sunday and is one away from tying the record set by Oscar Robertson in 1961-62, but the Thunder suffered a 113-101 home loss to the Charlotte Hornets and saw their chances at the No. 5 seed in the West grow slimmer. “We have to win, that’s my thoughts,” Westbrook responded when asked about the upcoming personal milestones. The Bucks have to win as well and sit in fifth place in the East, one game ahead of sixth-place Atlanta and two up on No. 7 Chicago, after suffering a disappointing 109-105 home loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday. “I think we weren’t who we are today,” All-Star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo told reporters after the loss. “We didn’t do what we usually do. That’s a game, we move on. We know how important these last five games are for us.”

ABOUT THE BUCKS (40-37): Sunday marked just the fourth loss in the last 18 games for Milwaukee, which opens a three-game road trip on Tuesday. The Bucks allowed the Mavericks, who rank last in the NBA in scoring offense (98.0 points), to shoot 52.1 percent from the floor in the setback and were upset about the effort on the defensive end after the contest. “I think it’s pretty obvious watching us that we’re at our best when we get out and play defense,” point guard Matthew Dellavedova told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “We can get out and run. That’s when we’re sharing the ball and that’s our identity.”

ABOUT THE THUNDER (43-33): Oklahoma City is just 1 1/2 games ahead of the seventh-place Grizzlies and will begin a four-game road trip at Memphis on Wednesday before closing out the regular season at home against Denver on Apr. 12. Westbrook needs 11 rebounds and 29 assists over the final six games to clinch a triple-double average for the season but is also trending up in turnovers and committed eight in each of the last two games. “Just making bad mistakes and bad decisions on that part, starting with myself,” Westbrook told reporters. “Just got to take better care of the ball.”

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Bucks rookie G Malcolm Brogdon missed the last two games with soreness in his lower back and is day-to-day.

2. Thunder SG Victor Oladipo is 5-of-20 from 3-point range over the last three games.

3. Milwaukee topped Oklahoma City 98-94 at home on Jan. 2 behind 26 points from Antetokounmpo.

PREDICTION: Bucks 120, 76ers 103

Oddsmakers currently have the PHILADELPHIA listed as 6.5 point favorites versus the MILWAUKEE, while the game’s total is sitting at 209.

An untimely losing streak has put the Milwaukee Bucks’ playoff hopes in jeopardy. They will attempt to right themselves when they conclude a three-game road trip against the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday night.

The Bucks (40-39) missed an opportunity to secure a postseason berth when they lost 104-89 to the Indiana Pacers on Thursday night despite 25 points, seven rebounds and six assists by Giannis Antetokounmpo. Milwaukee, which dropped its third straight, turned the ball over 21 times, resulting in 29 Indiana points.

With three games left in the regular season, the Bucks fell to sixth place in the Eastern Conference, one game behind Atlanta (41-38) and one game ahead of Chicago (39-40) and Indiana (39-40). Ninth-place Miami (38-41) is another game back.

“We’ve got to cross the finish line of Stage One, and that’s getting the notch by your name to make the playoffs,” coach Jason Kidd said in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “We had an opportunity to do that (Thursday) and we didn’t. But the way that we’re playing is not the way we were in March. We’ve got to get back to playing the way we did in March, defensively and offensively.

“In March and April, everyone is trying to win. The teams that are not in the playoffs are trying to win, too. They’re trying to get better. You can’t take anybody lightly and you can’t exhale. We have to get back to being the aggressors.”

And to limiting mistakes.

“We had way too many turnovers (Thursday),” Kidd told the Journal Sentinel. “We talked about it before the game; we’ve got to take care of the ball. Get shots, make or miss. That puts you in a bad situation defensively because they’re going to take advantage of it, and they did.”

The Bucks have been without rookie point guard Malcolm Brogdon (back tightness) the last four games, and he will not play Saturday, either. He is expected to return before the end of the regular season; the Bucks’ other two remaining games are against Charlotte next Monday and at Boston next Wednesday.

Philadelphia, which has dropped five straight games to fall to 28-51, has lost five players for the season to injury, and backup point guard Sergio Rodriguez has missed the last six games with a strained left hamstring. He was scheduled to be re-evaluated on Friday.

In addition, rookie forward Dario Saric is on a minutes restriction because of plantar fasciitis in his left foot, and point guard T.J. McConnell briefly left Thursday’s 102-90 loss to Chicago with a sprained left ankle. He later returned.

The Sixers shot just 36.3 percent from the floor and 21.2 percent from 3-point range against the Bulls. They led only in the game’s opening minutes and trailed by at least eight points over the final 22:50.

“We just couldn’t get over the hump,” Sixers coach Brett Brown said. “The first period (in which Philadelphia was outscored 27-17) kind of set the stage. We really had a hard time scoring.”

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento Kings carry positive momentum into their Tuesday night matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks and forward Giannis Antetokounmpo at Golden 1 Center.

The Sacramento Kings are fresh off their biggest win of the season and look to ride the momentum when they host the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday. The Kings halted a nine-game road slide by recording a 110-106 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Monday – their first victory in Oakland since March 2013.

Sacramento shot 53.2 percent from the field – the first Golden State opponent to shoot better than 50 percent this season – and got a huge performance from backup center Willie Cauley-Stein, who scored 19 points on 8-of-9 shooting and also registered eight rebounds and six assists. The 24-year-old is displaying signs of emerging as an offensive player by scoring 18 or more points in four of the past six games, including a season-high 26 against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday. Milwaukee split the first two contests of a four-game road excursion, while All-Star small forward Giannis Antetokounmpo was highly disturbed during Saturday’s 121-108 loss to the Utah Jazz, even getting into a heated argument with assistant coach Sean Sweeney. “We’ve just got to play harder, put more effort into it,” Antetokounmpo told reporters afterward. “If you get frustrated, there’s no point.”

ABOUT THE BUCKS (9-9): Antetokounmpo continued his MVP-caliber campaign with 27 points and 13 rebounds against the Jazz for his 16th 20-point outing and ninth double-double of the season. Antetokounmpo ranks second in the NBA in scoring (29.5) and his all-around standout stats include averages of 10.5 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.8 blocked shots and 1.5 steals. Guard Malcolm Brogdon, the NBA Rookie of the Year last season, has taken well to a reserve role since the acquisition of Eric Bledsoe, and scored 19 points and matched his career high of four 3-pointers in the Utah contest.

ABOUT THE KINGS (6-14): Sacramento’s nine road losses are by an average of 19.6 points and includes an embarrassing 46-point loss to the Atlanta Hawks, one of three NBA teams with a worse record than the Kings. So even with All-Stars Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant out of the Golden State lineup, it was still a milestone victory for the struggling team to win in the home building of a longtime nemesis. “It’s good for confidence,” Sacramento coach Dave Joerger told reporters after the win. “They don’t lose in here very often, no matter what. … It’s a feather in (our) hat for sure.”

BUZZER BEATERS

1. The Bucks swept last season’s two meetings by an average of 22 points.

2. Sacramento rookie G Frank Mason III scored a season-best 14 points against the Warriors and has reached double digits in four of the past five games.

3. Milwaukee SG Khris Middleton tallied only nine points on 4-of-15 shooting against Utah after scoring 40 points three nights earlier against the Phoenix Suns – his second effort of 40 or more points this season.

BOSTON — The Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics played each other twice in the first 10 days of the season, each winning on the other’s home floor.

They play again at TD Garden on Monday night, but the Bucks have undergone a roster change since they the Celtics last saw them.

Exit Greg Monroe. Enter Eric Bledsoe, freed from his personal purgatory in Phoenix.

Milwaukee (12-9) is 8-3 since the deal.

“It’s great. We still got a long way to go,” Bucks forward Khris Middleton said after Milwaukee’s 109-104 win over the visiting Sacramento Kings on Saturday night. “It’s still only been 11 games. You never get to know a player or a team until a full season.

“We still have a lot to learn a lot about one another.”

The Bucks held on to beat Sacramento after returning from a western trip that saw them go 4-1. They are a more-than-formidable opponent for the red-hot Celtics.

Boston (20-4) is 2-0 on its current four-game homestand. The Celtics have won 10 of their past 11 home games.

The latest two home wins came after coach Brad Stevens made a lineup change, inserting big man Aron Baynes in favor of Marcus Morris, whose knee has been a nagging problem. Morris isn’t thrilled with the switch but has contributed two very productive games since it happened.

After the game Saturday, Stevens said Morris’ production isn’t what will make up his mind on a game-to-game basis.

“Doesn’t really. Starting or when they play doesn’t really matter,” the coach said. “So, he’s still going to start when we feel like the matchup … is right.

“And the good news is … that you’re not as quick to pull him because of the … minutes restriction as it’s been lifted or increased. You know, having 25-30 (minutes) is much different than 20-22 when you’re trying to manage a four-quarter game. So whether he starts, comes off the bench, that’s only six minutes of the game. So, it’s more important that we’re able to put our best foot forward against every opponent.

“And I like the fact that we have some flexibility; I mean, there are some teams you just can’t start big against, and some teams that it’s hard to start small against. So it’s good that everybody is able to play well through that.”

The Celtics, winners of 20 of their past 22, became the first team in the league to 20 victories when they topped the Phoenix Suns 116-111 on Saturday.

“I’m not necessarily surprised,” said Boston guard Kyrie Irving, who is playing like an MVP and will hear those chants from home crowd again Monday. “I think that the surprise is coming from outside of the locker room. … We still have a long way to go to consider ourselves a great team, before anyone considers that, which we understand.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo had 37 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and three steals in the Milwaukee win that came in the Bucks’ season opener (and dropped the Celtics to 0-2). The Greek Freak had 28 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and three steals in a loss to Boston on Oct. 26. In the latter game, the Celtics’ Al Horford had 27 points and nine rebounds, and Irving added 24 points and seven assists.

Antetokounmpo scored 33 points against the Kings on Saturday night as the Bucks posted their third win in a row.

“We came off a long road trip and this was a trap game,” Milwaukee coach Jason Kidd said.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Horford had 27 points and nine rebounds in the 96-89 win at Milwaukee on Oct. 26

2. Bledsoe is averaging 22.6 points on 52 percent shooting over the last five games.

3. Antetokounmpo is second in the NBA in scoring (29.4), ninth in steals (1.8) and 15th in field-goal percentage (54.6) entering Sunday.

PREDICTION: MILWAUKEE , UTAH

Oddsmakers currently have the MILWAUKEE listed as -3 point favorites versus the UTAH, while the game’s total is sitting at 199.

MILWAUKEE — After outlasting the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night, the Milwaukee Bucks will have a quick turnaround before playing host to the Utah Jazz Saturday night at the Bradley Center.

The teams met late last month in Salt Lake City and things didn’t go well at all for the Bucks, who allowed a season-high 18 3-pointers including six from rookie Donovan Mitchell.

Mitchell finished with a career-high 24 points and scored 10 in the final quarter in the Jazz’ 121-108 victory.

Milwaukee got 27 from Giannis Antetokounmpo in the contest and the Bucks shot 53 percent overall but they were doomed by another subpar defensive effort and lost in Utah for the 16th straight time.

“We didn’t play any defense,” Bucks coach Jason Kidd said after that loss. “I think both teams were in a shootout offensively and they won that by shooting the three at a very high clip. …

“Effort, energy and caring and I think sprinkle in a little trying — we didn’t do that tonight. We tried hard on the offensive end, but we didn’t try — we didn’t do anything on the defensive end.”

The Bucks have won four of five since, including a 109-102 victory Friday night against Dallas while the Jazz won four in a row after that meeting — extending their winning streak to six — but come to Milwaukee having lost two in a row.

“It’s easy when you go on certain streaks to go out there and go, ‘We got this,’ and be happy with it,” Mitchell said. “This was definitely a good reminder game and we’ve definitely got a tough schedule coming up, so it was good to get it at the beginning of the month.”

The Bucks’ offense has been clicking on all cylinders during their recent run of success and since Eric Bledsoe joined the team in a Nov. 7 trade with Phoenix, Milwaukee’s “Big Three” of Bledsoe, Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton was outscoring its opponents by 17 points per 100 possessions entering play Friday and the Bucks have a 115.2 efficiency rating with that group on the floor, putting them near the top of the league.

They’ve each scored more than 20 points in the Bucks’ last two games and combined for 82 in the victory over Dallas with Middleton scoring 31 and knocking down five 3-pointers.

“You get in the zone where you feel like all your shots are good even if they’re contested,” Middleton said. “You just have to stay confident. That’s the main thing. Stay confident and let it go; just try to find a rhythm.”

The Bucks will again be playing short-handed, though point guard Matthew Dellavedova, who’s missed 10 games with tendinitis in his left knee, is listed as questionable. But Milwaukee will be without Jason Terry, who’s battling a strained calf, Mirza Teletovic, who’s recovering from knee surgery and now Tony Snell, who sat out Friday night with tendinitis in his left knee.

“We just have to do it by committee,” Middleton said. “Tony’s a big piece of what we do. Tonight, he was out, so Rashad (Vaughn) had to step up. … It’s not something one person has to take on, we have to do it as a team.”

Along with their home-court winning streak, the Jazz have won seven in a row and 21 of the last 25 overall meetings with the Bucks.

PREDICTION: Clippers 113, Bucks 110

Oddsmakers currently have the LA CLIPPERS listed as -7.5 point favorites versus the MILWAUKEE, while the game’s total is sitting at 210.

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Clippers resume their quest to improve their playoff position when they meet the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night at Staples Center.

The Clippers (40-27) have captured eight in a row at home against the Bucks, who haven’t won at Staples since Dec. 4, 2007. However, the Bucks prevailed in the last meeting between the two in Milwaukee with a 112-101 victory on March 3 behind 24 points from forward Giannis Antetokoumpo.

Los Angeles is averaging almost 10 points per win during their streak against Milwaukee.

The Clippers, who have claimed victories in four of their last six games, lost ground in their pursuit of the No. 4 seed from the Western Conference. In a rare loss at Utah, the Clippers faded in the second half of a 114-108 loss to the Jazz. Utah benefited from some hot shooting after intermission to rally.

The Jazz hit 10 consecutive 3-pointers to open the second half and finished 11 of 12 from the behind the arc in the final two quarters.

It was the first win by the Jazz this season against the Clippers and ended a nine-game losing streak to them on their home floor. The Clippers hadn’t lost at Utah since Jan. 17, 2012.

The win allowed the Jazz, who hold the No. 4 spot in the Western Conference race, to increase their lead over the No. 5 Clippers by two games. If they remain fourth and fifth, the teams would face each other in the opening round of the playoffs.

If Monday’s game was a prelude to a playoff matchup, it could provide some entertaining theater.

Clippers shooting guard J.J. Redick and Jazz center Rudy Gobert were involved in a minor spat, with Gobert receiving a technical foul for his part. Gobert also exchanged words later in the game with Clippers point guard Chris Paul, who also received a technical but scored a season-high 33 points and added seven assists and six rebounds.

“Just a little tussle,” said Paul, according to the Los Angeles Times. “I ain’t worried about him. He just talks a lot. He can play, but he just talks a lot.”

The Bucks (32-34) kicked off their six-game road trip Monday with a 113-93 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. The Bucks also experienced some close encounters from 3-point range as Vince Carter scored 24 points on 8-of-8 shooting, six of those coming from long distance. That allowed the Grizzlies to snap a five-game skid and end the Bucks’ six-game winning streak.

“This was a man’s game,” Bucks coach Jason Kidd told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. “You had to be ready for the hit. They were going to be the desperate ones and we needed to be desperate. They controlled the whole tempo of the game; we never got out and ran. We had trouble rebounding the ball.”

Rebounding has been an issue with both teams all season. The Bucks ranked 29th in the NBA — the Dallas Mavericks were the only worst club — with an average of 40.6 boards per game entering Tuesday.

The Clippers weren’t much better, ranking 23rd at 42.9 boards per game.

PREDICTION: MILWAUKEE , INDIANA

Oddsmakers currently have the MILWAUKEE listed as 3.5 point favorites versus the INDIANA, while the game’s total is sitting at 216.5.

The Indiana Pacers opened the season with a convincing victory and look to add another win when they visit the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday. The Pacers rolled to a 111-83 triumph over the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday for the franchise’s largest opening-night winning margin since joining the NBA for the 1976-77 season.

The 28-point victory included an astounding 57-28 rebounding edge and high defensive intensity that limited Memphis to 29.8 percent shooting from the field. “I thought every guy that went out on the floor played hard,” Indiana coach Nate McMillan told reporters. “The intensity didn’t drop off on the defensive end of the floor. I just really liked our effort and our execution, playing the game together.” Milwaukee opened up with a 113-112 victory over the Charlotte Hornets but nearly let a 17-point third-quarter lead get away before escaping in coach Mike Budenholzer’s first game as coach. “Love the way we started the game, loved the way we played a lot in the first half, just got to find a way to do that for 48 minutes,” Budenholzer told reporters.

TV: 8:30 p.m. ET, FS Indiana, FS Wisconsin (Milwaukee)

ABOUT THE PACERS (1-0): Veteran guard Tyreke Evans played well in his team debut and contributed 14 points and six assists in 24 minutes off the bench. “He’s trying to see what we want him to do and I’m trying to see how we can use him,” McMillan said after the contest. “It’s going to take some time, but I think he’s a guy who has some versatility, and we’re certainly going to give him the ball and let him create.” Swingman Bojan Bogdanovic had a team-best 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting against Memphis and he figures to be thrilled to see the Bucks after scoring 29 points against them in a win last March.

ABOUT THE BUCKS (1-0): All-Star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo recorded 25 points, 18 rebounds and eight assists in his season debut but also was careless and committed eight of his team’s 21 turnovers. “We were a little bit sloppy with the ball,” Antetokounmpo told reporters. “When we’re up we tend to play bad basketball, so we’ve got to stay within our principles.” Small forward Khris Middleton (19 points) and guard Eric Bledsoe (17) were solid on the offensive end but Bledsoe was often lost on defense as Charlotte star Kemba Walker poured in 41 points.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. The Pacers went 3-1 against the Bucks last season.

2. Milwaukee C Brook Lopez scored 14 points in 21 minutes in his team debut.

3. Indiana F TJ Leaf (ankle) was injured in the opener and will sit out Friday.

PREDICTION: MILWAUKEE , ORLANDO

Oddsmakers currently have the MILWAUKEE listed as -8.5 point favorites versus the ORLANDO, while the game’s total is sitting at 222.

The Milwaukee Bucks can improve to 6-0 for the first time since 1971 when they take on the visiting Orlando Magic on Saturday. Behind a balanced attack in which they shot 53.3 percent from the floor and handed out a season-high 32 assists, the Bucks rolled to a 125-95 win at Minnesota on Friday night.

Khris Middleton and Ersan Ilyasova scored 16 points apiece and Giannis Antetokounmpo chipped in 15 points, 12 rebounds and six assists as Milwaukee held Minnesota to 32.1 percent shooting to remain one of three unbeaten teams in the NBA. “The defense that we had in the first half, the way we came out and kind of established that identity, something we’ve been talking about,” coach Mike Budenholzer said. “Then playing with the lead in the third quarter I thought there were a lot of positives how we came out and did some things.” The Magic followed up an impressive 93-90 win at Boston on Monday with a disappointing 128-114 loss at home against Portland three nights later. Nikola Vucevic scored 24 points in both games and is averaging 25 points and 12 rebounds over his last three games.

TV: 8:30 p.m. ET, FS Florida (Orlando), FS Wisconsin (Milwaukee)

ABOUT THE MAGIC (2-3): Head coach Steve Clifford was justifiably concerned with a defensive effort that allowed Portland to shoot 55.2 percent, and he is well aware of the challenge that his team faces in Milwaukee’s prolifc attack. “The other thing that’s happened is that acquiring [center Brook] Lopez — they haven’t had the spacing 5s in the past — so now they’re so spread out, it gives Giannis more room to kind of go to work and play and drive and create,” Clifford told reporters. “They are shooting a ton of 3s and we’re gonna have to be able to be on top of those things.” Veteran backup Terrence Ross chipped in 24 points against the Blazers while making 5-of-9 3-pointers after hitting 4-of-17 through his first four contests.

ABOUT THE BUCKS (5-0): Milwaukee has scored at least 113 points in its five games and it got everyone into the act in producing the season-high 125 points at Minnesota, as 12 players scored at least six points. Middleton made 4-of-7 3-pointers and is 22-for-38 on the season while averaging 22.6 points, and Antetokounmpo was held below 25 points for the first time but is averaging 15.6 rebounds. The Bucks won their first seven games in the 1971-72 when Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was the star player.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Milwaukee made 19-of-46 3-pointers Friday night and it is averaging 16 made 3s on the season.

2. Magic PG D.J. Augustin was 3-for-4 from the floor in the loss to Portland after going 10-for-35 through the first four contests.

3. The Bucks took three of four meetings last season. Antetokounmpo played in three of those games, averging 32 points.

PREDICTION: MILWAUKEE , SACRAMENTO

Oddsmakers currently have the MILWAUKEE listed as -10 point favorites versus the SACRAMENTO, while the game’s total is sitting at 235.

The two biggest surprises in their respective conferences through the first three weeks might be the Milwaukee Bucks and the Sacramento Kings, who are both exceeding expectations. The Kings will try to pick up a sixth straight win while the host Bucks attempt to bounce back from their first loss on Sunday.

Milwaukee won seven straight to begin the campaign before falling at Boston 117-113 on Thursday, and superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo remained encouraged despite the setback. “Definitely have a lot of confidence, we still think we are one of the best teams,” Antetokounmpo told reporters after the game. “Tonight, we didn’t have an A or B game, probably a C game, but we were still close to winning the game in Boston – one of the best teams in the East. We are still going to believe in ourselves, going to continue to get better.” The Kings looked like a sure bet to miss the playoffs prior to the start of the season but are watching their young players mature rapidly during the hot stretch. Sacramento won the first three stops on the four-game road trip, capped by a 146-115 win at Atlanta on Thursday that featured second-year guard De’Aaron Fox’s first career triple-double.

TV: 3:30 p.m. ET, NBCS California (Sacramento), FS Wisconsin (Milwaukee)

ABOUT THE KINGS (6-3): Fox recorded career highs in all three categories with 31 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds on Thursday while going 9-of-13 from the field. “He’s our best player. I think if he’s not on the court, we can’t be as successful as we are because of the way he pushes the ball and attacks the rim,” shooting guard Buddy Hield told reporters of Fox. “He’s taken on a leadership role, which is what we need from him.” Hield is stepping up as well and scored a season-high 27 points on Thursday to mark his fifth straight game with 20 or more points.

ABOUT THE BUCKS (7-1): Milwaukee small forward Khris Middleton was one of several players who struggled while going 6-of-18 from the floor on Thursday, but he wasn’t ready to take anything major away from the contest. “It’s just one game,” Middleton told reporters. “It’s too early, it’s not even 10 games into the season. … It’s one game out of 82. It’s not a playoff game right now.” Middleton averaged 24.3 points during the first four games but watched that number drop to 16 over the last four contests.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Kings PF Nemanja Bjelica is averaging 21.3 points while going 15-of-27 from 3-point range during over the last four games.

2. Bucks C Brook Lopez was held to a season-low two points on 1-of-4 shooting on Thursday.

3. Milwaukee took the last four meetings by an average of 18.5 points.

PREDICTION: PORTLAND , MILWAUKEE

Oddsmakers currently have the PORTLAND listed as -2 point favorites versus the MILWAUKEE, while the game’s total is sitting at 226.5.

The Milwaukee Bucks have matched the best nine-game start in franchise history and look to add another victory when they visit the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday. Milwaukee has won eight of its first nine games to join the 1971-72 squad led by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the franchise’s top mark.

The Bucks continued their strong opening stretch by rolling to a 144-109 win over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday. Milwaukee set a franchise record with 22 made 3-pointers and also registered its most points in a non-overtime game since racking up 147 against the San Antonio Spurs on March 18, 1979. Portland has won four of its last five games and pounded the Minnesota Timberwolves 111-81 on Sunday to improve to 7-3. “To be sitting where we are now, I’m sure people didn’t expect it,” star point guard Damian Lillard told reporters. “I think we’re playing good basketball. We’ve been pretty consistent with the things that we need to do to win games and it’s showing.”

TV: 10 p.m. ET, FS Wisconsin (Milwaukee), NBCS Northwest (Portland)

ABOUT THE BUCKS (8-1): Star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo posted his second triple-double of the season and 12th of his career with 26 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists in the rout of the Kings. Antetokounmpo was one of eight players to reach double digits against Sacramento as solid ball movement was evident throughout the easy victory. “Hopefully, one of the keys to Giannis being great is everybody around him being great,” Milwaukee coach Mike Budenholzer told reporters. “We can also talk about a lot of other guys who played well, too. So, that’s a great sign for Giannis and a great sign for us.”

ABOUT THE TRAIL BLAZERS (7-3): The victory over Minnesota came one night after a stunning home loss against the Los Angeles Lakers and Lillard liked how his team bounced back against the Timberwolves, who were without guards Jimmy Butler and Derrick Rose. “I think it speaks to our maturity,” Lillard told reporters. “In the past, we might have let that one slip (Saturday) and then come back and been, I guess, too emotional about it, like a younger team would be, kind of holding on to it. It would carry over to (Sunday).” Center Jusuf Nurkic has posted back-to-back double-doubles after recording 19 points and 12 rebounds against Minnesota and has five for the season.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. The Bucks won both of last season’s meetings and prevailed in six of the past seven.

2. Milwaukee SF Khris Middleton has made three or more 3-pointers in eight of the first nine games.

3. Portland backup SG Nik Stauskas (quadriceps) is questionable after departing Sunday’s game.

PREDICTION: GOLDEN STATE , MILWAUKEE

Oddsmakers currently have the GOLDEN STATE listed as -7.5 point favorites versus the MILWAUKEE, while the game’s total is sitting at 234.5.

The Golden State Warriors remain the team to beat in the NBA, but the Milwaukee Bucks are building something special and are intent on proving they belong among the game’s elite. The Bucks will try to prove as much when they visit the Warriors in the second of a four-game west coast road trip on Thursday.

Milwaukee won its first seven games before dropping two of the last three, including a 118-103 loss at Portland on Tuesday to begin the trip. “I didn’t think we came out with the greatest attention to the 3-ball, attention to them coming off screening situations,” Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer told reporters after the loss. “So, that put us in a little bit of a hole.” Lack of attention to detail on the 3-ball and in screening situations can doom an opponent of the Warriors, who lead the NBA in team 3-point percentage at .423 while boasting three of the best shooters in the game in Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant, all of whom can operate off the screen. Golden State is enjoying an eight-game winning streak and knocked down 13-of-24 from beyond the arc while cruising to a 117-101 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.

TV: 10:30 p.m. ET, TNT, NBCS Bay Area (Golden State)

ABOUT THE BUCKS (8-2): Milwaukee star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo is the driving force behind the team’s hot start and is averaging 25.8 points on 54.4 percent shooting, 13.3 rebounds and 5.9 assists while drawing praise from his fellow superstars. “He’s just very unique and I think he owns his game,” Curry told reporters of Antetokounmpo. “He understands how he can be impactful every night. He obviously plays extremely hard every night. Some of the stuff he does, your jaw drops. The way he can cover ground in a few strides, the way he can finish in the paint and all those types of things, it’s pretty special.” Antetokounmpo is also second in the NBA in turnovers at an average of five per game.

ABOUT THE WARRIORS (10-1): Curry leads the NBA in scoring at an average of 31.3 points while shooting 52.5 percent from the floor, 50.8 percent from beyond the arc and 92.3 percent from the free-throw line. Durant is right behind while averaging 27.7 points on 56.5 percent shooting, but the two will have to operate on Thursday without fellow All-Star Draymond Green, who is out with a sprained big toe suffered in Monday’s win. “It’s just day to day,” Golden State coach Steve Kerr told reporters after Wednesday’s practice. “No concern long term. So, we’ll just monitor it each day, and we’re so early in the season, obviously we’ll be cautious. We’ll see how it plays out.”

BUZZER BEATERS

1. The Warriors also expect to be without PG Shaun Livingston (foot), who will miss his sixth straight game.

2. Bucks C Brook Lopez scored a season-high 22 points while going 6-of-10 from 3-point range on Tuesday.

3. Milwaukee earned a 116-107 win at Golden State last season as Antetokounmpo scored 32 points in a game Curry missed.

PREDICTION: LA CLIPPERS , MILWAUKEE

Oddsmakers currently have the LA CLIPPERS listed as 3 point favorites versus the MILWAUKEE, while the game’s total is sitting at 232.5.

The Milwaukee Bucks just announced themselves as a true contender this season by dominating the defending champion Golden State Warriors on Thursday and avoiding a letdown after that big win is the next challenge. The Bucks will try to keep the momentum rolling forward when they visit the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday.

Milwaukee is taking a step forward this season under new coach Mike Budenholzer and showed off the power and versatility in his offense with Thursday’s 134-111 triumph. “I think teams are starting to take notice and realize that we’re not the Bucks that we were when I first got here six years ago,” Bucks swingman Khris Middleton told reporters. “We’re a totally different team even from last year. We’re going to come to play. We’re going to play hard.” The Clippers are a different team than they were a year ago as well and are trying to establish an identity based around team play while operating without a star. Danilo Gallinari and Tobias Harris are doing the bulk of the scoring from the starting unit and combined for 35 points and 16 rebounds in a 116-105 loss at Portland on Thursday.

TV: 3:30 p.m. ET, FS Wisconsin (Milwaukee), FS Prime Ticket (Los Angeles)

ABOUT THE BUCKS (9-2): Milwaukee point guard Eric Bledsoe was struggling with his shot before going 10-of-12 from the floor and finishing with a team-high 26 points and six assists in Thursday’s win. “Eric was phenomenal,” Budenholzer told reporters. “It goes without saying. Both ends of the court. Defensively, he was locked in. He can be really tough to screen, whether it be pick-and-rolls or chasing the ball. And then the way he attacked the other direction. I think when he saw opportunities and was able to get people on their heels, he took advantage of it. That was great to see.” Bledsoe was held to five points on 2-of-12 shooting in a loss at Portland to open the road trip.

ABOUT THE CLIPPERS (6-5): Los Angeles coach Doc Rivers is trying to find the right rotations to get the most out of his team and is starting to give rookie point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander a longer look. Gilgeous-Alexander broke out with a season-high 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting in 35 minutes on Thursday while knocking down both of his 3-point attempts. Power forward Montrezl Harrell is demonstrating his efficiency off the bench and went 8-of-9 from the floor on Thursday to boost his shooting percentage to 67.1.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Clippers SG Avery Bradley (ankle) missed the last two games and is day-to-day.

2. Bucks SG Pat Connaughton scored a season-high 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting Thursday.

3. Los Angeles took both meetings last season by an average of seven points.

PREDICTION: DENVER , MILWAUKEE

Oddsmakers currently have the DENVER listed as -3.5 point favorites versus the MILWAUKEE, while the game’s total is sitting at 223.5.

The Denver Nuggets have followed a 9-1 start with a pair of two-point losses and will try to return to the win column when they host the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday. After matching the best 10-game start in franchise history, the Nuggets dropped an 87-85 decision at Memphis before returning home and falling 112-110 to Brooklyn on Friday.

Center Nikola Jokic broke out of an offensive slump to produce a season-high 37 points and a career-best 21 rebounds, but Denver still suffered its first loss in seven home contests. “To me, we lost that game in the first quarter,” Nuggets coach Michael Malone told reporters after his team fell behind 34-23 after one period. “The turnovers in the first quarter, the 3-point defense in the first quarter. We gave up seven 3s in the first quarter. You spot them a 10-point lead, not being ready to play, and now you’re playing catch-up the rest of the night.” The Bucks will be searching for some energy after being forced to go to overtime on Saturday before falling to the Los Angeles Clippers 128-126. Milwaukee has lost three of its last five following a 7-0 start.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, FS Wisconsin (Milwaukee), Altitude2 (Denver)

ABOUT THE BUCKS (9-3): Giannis Antetokounmpo finished Saturday’s loss with 27 points, 18 rebounds, five steals and two blocks in 41 minutes. Malcolm Brogdon chipped in 23 points and Brook Lopez scored 20 while making a career high-tying six 3-pointers for Milwaukee, which is 3-3 on the road and 6-0 at home. Brogdon is averaging 21.5 points on 56.7 percent shooting over his last two games.

ABOUT THE NUGGETS (9-3): Jokic averaged 21.6 points in October before being held to eight or fewer in each of his first four games this month. The 23-year-old Serbian snapped out of the funk by making 14-of-22 shots – including his only 3-point attempt – and getting to the free-throw line 10 times, his highest total since Oct. 21, in a much more aggressive effort. “As the face of our franchise and as our best player, one field-goal attempt, three field-goal attempts, less than five field-goal attempts, whatever it is, is not enough,” Malone told the media. “We need a lot more shots for him, and that’s on me, that’s on his teammates, but most of all, it’s on Nikola to take that responsibility, to take that burden and look to set the tone early in the game.”

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Nuggets G Jamal Murray is 11-for-35 from the floor since going 19-for-30 in his 48-point performance against Boston on Monday.

2. Antetokounmpo missed his only two 3-point attempts Saturday and is 2-for-25 on the season.

3. Denver has won eight straight meetings at home.

PREDICTION: MILWAUKEE , CHICAGO

Oddsmakers currently have the MILWAUKEE listed as -13.5 point favorites versus the CHICAGO, while the game’s total is sitting at 224.

The Milwaukee Bucks attempt to bounce back from their first home loss of the season when they host the Chicago Bulls on Friday. The Bucks were outplayed down the stretch on Wednesday, when they suffered a 116-113 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies in the opener of a six-game homestand.

Milwaukee was just 9-of-35 from 3-point range and swingman Khris Middleton missed a tying 3-point attempt as the buzzer while falling to 6-1 at home. The early-season success of the Bucks has been partially due to the team’s long-range success as Milwaukee makes an NBA-leading 14.8 3-pointers per game. The Bulls have dropped back-to-back games and Wednesday’s loss was a brutal 111-82 trouncing against the Boston Celtics that included 22 turnovers. “They came out and hit us in the mouth in the second quarter,” Chicago coach Fred Hoiberg told reporters of being outscored 32-11. “A huge thing in this league is, find a way to fight through adversity and play through tough times, and we obviously did not do that well.”

TV: 9:30 p.m. ET, ESPN, WGN (Chicago), FS Wisconsin (Milwaukee)

ABOUT THE BULLS (4-11): High-scoring shooting guard Zach LaVine had just 10 points against the Celtics after scoring at least 20 in each of the first 14 games of the season. LaVine, who averages 25.9 points, was just 3-of-11 from the field, and knew his lackluster outing didn’t help matters on a night in which Boston pulled away. “We just weren’t scoring the ball,” LaVine told reporters. “We were playing really good defense, but the floodgates opened up and we couldn’t respond.”

ABOUT THE BUCKS (10-4): Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 31 points on 10-of-14 shooting in the loss to Memphis and topped 20 points in each of his last eight games. Antetokounmpo has four 30-point outings while averaging 25 points and is shooting 56 percent from the field despite being only 2-of-28 from 3-point range. Middleton scored 25 points against the Grizzlies and ranks fourth in the NBA with 47 3-point baskets entering Thursday’s play with teammate Brook Lopez tied for seventh with 41 makes.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. The teams split last season’s four meetings.

2. The Bulls failed to reach 100 points in four straight games and are averaging 94.3 during the stretch.

3. Milwaukee rookie SG Donte DiVincenzo (knee) was injured Wednesday and is questionable to play versus Chicago.

PREDICTION: CHARLOTTE , MILWAUKEE

Oddsmakers currently have the CHARLOTTE listed as 4.5 point favorites versus the MILWAUKEE, while the game’s total is sitting at 235.5.

The Milwaukee Bucks will play their first road game in over two weeks when they visit the Charlotte Hornets on Monday. The Bucks capped a 4-2 homestand with a 135-129 win over San Antonio on Saturday behind a 34-point, 18-rebound performance by star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.

“It was a big game today,” Antetokounmpo told reporters after his team bounced back from a surprising loss to lowly Phoenix on Friday. “As I said yesterday, we’re a winning team now. Always, no matter what’s going on, no matter if we lost the game before, we’re always going to try to bounce back and get back on track. That’s what we did today.” The two-time All-Star recorded 25 points, 18 rebounds and eight assists in a season-opening 113-112 win at Charlotte. The Hornets will be opening a four-game homestand after falling 124-123 at Atlanta on Sunday, with Kemba Walker having a potential game-winning shot blocked in the closing seconds. Walker finished with 22 points, nine assists and just one turnover – a shot-clock violation in the final minute – as Charlotte dropped to 3-7 on the road.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, FS Wisconsin (Milwaukee), FS Southeast (Charlotte)

ABOUT THE BUCKS (14-5): Antetokounmpo led a quartet of 20-point scorers in the win over the Spurs as Milwaukee shot 57 percent, just shy of its season high. Malcolm Brogdon was the most accurate of the bunch with 23 points on 10-of-15 shooting, and the third-year pro – who sealed the win with a 3-pointer in the closing seconds – is averaging 22.5 on 72 percent shooting over his last two games. Eric Bledsoe recorded the assist on Brogdon’s late basket en route to a 20-point, 10-assist effort, giving him his second double-double of the season.

ABOUT THE HORNETS (9-10): Malik Monk came off the bench to score a career high-tying 26 points in 24 minutes in the loss to Atlanta after producing a total of 27 over his previous five contests. He hit a personal-best seven 3-pointers one game after never getting off the bench – a first this season – in a loss at Oklahoma City. “He was great tonight,” coach James Borrego said of Monk during a postgame television interview. “Didn’t play last game. I thought he was great tonight. Came out with an aggressive mentality. He was ready for the moment, stepped up and gave us a chance to get back in that game.”

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Walker scored 41 points in the loss to the Bucks earlier this season.

2. Hornets PG Tony Parker (ribs) has missed the last two games and is day-to-day.

3. Milwaukee PF Ersan Ilyasova (knee) sat out Saturday’s win.
